The theme of our youth weekend which took place from Friday, 26th of September through to Sunday 28th September was ‘The Christian life’. It was a tremendous success. It was great to see our teenagers with so much passion for God as they took over most of the ministry for a whole weekend. Everyone including the adults and children were very proud of our youth as they blessed us throughout a weekend full of the Word, sharing, fellowship, dance, music and fun!
Here is a summary of this memorable weekend.
Friday
We were treated to a debate titled ‘where does the Christian life matter most’’. The options were;
At school and workplace
At Home
With friends
Some vital points or lessons that came out of the debate include:
• Having a good Christian foundation at home has a huge impact in our lives as we grow up.
• We can influence so many people in our schools and workplaces.
• There is a ripple effect of ministering to friends as they will in turn minister the gospel to the network of people around them.
In the course of the debate, the youth came up with quotes like,
‘The Holy Spirit is our best friend’
‘How wonderful it would be if everyone was brought up in a Christian home’
‘Your friends can say you are good, but only your family can say you’re the best’
‘One of your schoolmates that you lead to Christ may later become the Prime minister, having a great influence on the whole nation’
Saturday
The youth entertained the whole church with a film titled ‘Evans Almighty’. It was fun! This was enjoyed particularly by the children. Cakes and drinks were served.
Sunday
Wow! What can we say about Sunday. It was simply awesome. The youth ran the whole service. They led prayers, praise and worship and preached the Word. We saw two young ‘pastors’ emerge to give us the Word with so much boldness and clarity. Praise God!
The youth also ushered, took the offerings and handled the multimedia. After the service, there was a carwash service where the youth thoroughly washed our cars. How about that for Christian service. We were blessed inside and outside. The youth impacted us all spirit, soul and body.
A million thanks to all the youth teachers and assistance for their time, effort and patience in raising a generation that will impact the world with the love and power of the gospel. We are excited about what God is doing in our young people as more and more are getting ‘hooked’ on Jesus. Amen!
